Clayton is a Proud and Beautiful Hometown

Stroll down Main Street and wave hello to your kind neighbors, visit the postcard-worthy storefronts with their colorful awnings, and discover the hidden treasures of this true North Carolina hometown — the Clayton Harvest Festival, Boyette Family Farms, and the Clayton Historic District, just to name a few.

Small-Town Feel, Big Attractions

Whether you work in Raleigh or just like having access to big-city amenities, Clayton is a perfect satellite town for those seeking the comfort and closeness of a smaller town. However, though Clayton’s attraction lies much in its quaint and homey feel, there is no shortage of attractions, amenities, and things to do and see.

The community of Clayton is known for its growing arts culture and takes pride in the Clayton Center, which hosts local and national theatre groups, special events, and art exhibits.

Clayton is also home to several community events throughout the year. Some of these events include the Annual Youth Artist Festival, Clayton Farm and Community Market, the 301 Endless Yard Sale, the Clayton Food Tour, and Lights on the Neuse.

Drinks and Dining Spotlight

A local favorite, the Deep River Brewing Company, deserves special mention as both a historical site and a local brewery. With a relaxed and homey atmosphere and local-brewed craft beers, it’s easy to see why this is a preferred evening hangout. Located in an old cotton-spinning mill, the brewery retains a historical feel.

Outdoor Recreation

From its city-managed parks, like All-Star Park, Clayton Community Park, and Legend Park, to its three golf courses, to the Clemmons Educational State Forest, it’s easy to get outside in Clayton. Trails run along the Neuse River (or you can canoe the river!), and include the River Walk, which is part of the Mountains to Sea Trail. This trail, still a work in progress, will be a 1,000 mile connection between the Great Smokey Mountains National Park of western NC to the coast.

Fostering a Flame for Learning

Clayton is served by the Johnston County School District, which offers plenty of opportunities for both advanced and specialized learning, as well as athletics and extra-curriculars.
